OREANDA-NEWS After launching wool trading, the St. Petersburg Exchange may start trading meat products, the exchange said after its vice president Dmitry Chernyshev participated in the Caucasus Investment Forum.
Recalling that the first wool trading took place on April 16 in the "Agricultural Products and Bioresources" section, the vice president said: "The introduction of exchange mechanisms is an important step towards consolidating the wool market in Russia. In the near future, we expect new industry enterprises to join the trading process."
He spoke about the possibilities of scaling up trading: in the future, meat products are likely to be included in the list of traded goods. At the same time, Chernyshev drew attention to the fact that exchange trading, which provides standardized and controlled conditions for transactions, is a guarantee of minimizing risks and expenses for businesses.
"Transparent pricing - the formation of objective market prices based on real supply and demand, direct transactions without intermediaries, the opportunity to increase the profitability of producers, and a non-discriminatory channel of access to the largest Russian companies - are the main advantages of listing products on the exchange," he emphasized.
The St. Petersburg Exchange is Russia's largest commodity exchange, organizing exchange trading in the markets of petroleum products, oil, petrochemicals, natural gas, LPG, metals, timber and building materials, mineral fertilizers and agricultural goods, as well as in the derivatives market.
