OREANDA-NEWS Insurers said that car thieves may become more active in Russia. The problem may worsen due to a shortage of cars at dealers, interruptions in the supply of spare parts and a sharp rise in the price of the remaining models on the market. According to experts, any crisis negatively affects the criminal situation and the situation will depend on the availability and cost of spare parts in the near future. Earlier, leading automakers announced their withdrawal from Russia or suspension of deliveries.

A representative of AlfaStrakhovanie said that after the news about the withdrawal of Mazda, Honda, Mercedes, Opel and other manufacturers from the Russian market, criminals have not yet become active. However, in a crisis, both the number of car fraud attempts and the number of hijackings may increase. So far, the situation is stabilized by the availability of alternative options for Western products.

RESO-Garantia is also expecting a sharp jump in the number of hijackings. According to the representative of the company, the shortage of spare parts will manifest itself in all brands and models. The reason for this is not only the sanctions of Western countries, but also the breaks in logistics chains.

According to the forecast of the head of the expert center Probok.net Alexander Shumsky, the black market of parts may soon "pop up" in Russia. This will happen if the authorities do not organize the delivery of cars and components. Otherwise, counterfeit spare parts will flood the market.
