OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of the first half of 2025, the total sales of used Chinese cars in Russia increased by 42 percent compared to the same period in 2024 and reached 114.5 thousand units. The sharp increase in demand is reported by Autostat with reference to its own statistical data.
Against this background, the share of Chinese cars in the total structure of used car sales in Russia increased by 1.3 percentage points (pp). If in January-June last year such vehicles accounted for 2.9 percent of the secondary car market of the Russian Federation, then in the first half of 2025 - 4.2 percent, analysts said.
At the same time, the growth rate of sales of used cars from China in Russia accelerated in the summer. So, in the first five months of this year, the increase was estimated at 44 percent. In June-July, their sales totaled 21 thousand units.
Earlier, the head of Autostat, Sergey Tselikov, drew attention to the high proportion of relatively fresh used cars in the sales structure of used cars from China in Russia. Vehicles up to and including three years of age accounted for more than half of the transactions in January-May. According to the expert, such statistics indicate the desire of Russians to get rid of the car before the warranty expires. The need for repairs at your own expense may scare off potential buyers, concluded Tselikov.
