A second will be deducted from world time

OREANDA-NEWS Russian scientists have suggested that due to the anomalous acceleration of the Earth, one second will have to be subtracted from world time. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
In a conversation with the agency, Sergey Donchenko, Director General of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Physico-Technical and Radio Engineering Measurements (VNIIFTRI), considered this possibility. "The technical problem of adding or subtracting a second has not caused any problems for a long time," the specialist noted.
Earlier, Vitaly Palchikov, chief researcher at VNIIFTRI, announced the anomalous acceleration of the Earth. According to his estimates, to compensate for the rotation of the planet, one second of world time will have to be subtracted by 2029.
Sergey Donchenko explained that the Earth is constantly slowing down and accelerating — at the moment, experts note that it is in acceleration mode. "The earth is warming up, there are intensified processes inside the planet," said Donchenko, stressing that there is still no exact answer to the question of why this is happening.
Earlier, scientists at Durham University (Great Britain) stated that the level of the world's oceans will increase by 10 meters by the year 2300. This is due to increased ice melting in response to hotter weather caused by climate change.
