OREANDA-NEWS Finnish President Alexander Stubb called on his country to "mentally prepare" for the restoration of relations with Russia. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

"In Finland, we must mentally prepare for the fact that at some point relations will open at the political level," the Finnish leader said.

Stubb stressed that he could not yet say exactly when relations with Moscow would be restored. He added that nothing can undo the fact that Russia is Finland's neighbor.

Earlier, Alexander Stubb called on the West to "force peace" on Russia, as it allegedly delays the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, Moscow has chosen the tactic of putting forward new conditions, which allegedly delay the negotiation process.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously proposed discussing the introduction of interim governance in Ukraine under the auspices of the United Nations and a number of countries. He stressed that this would make it possible to hold democratic elections and bring a functioning government to power.
