OREANDA-NEWS Germany intends to increase pressure on Russia and to pass a new package of financial and military assistance to Kiev. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Vadefuhl before leaving for Brussels for a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, the text of the statement is available on the website of the German Foreign Ministry.

"We continue to put pressure on Russia and, as NATO allies, we intend to increase it. To this end, Germany will purchase $200 million worth of defense equipment for Ukraine, which will be delivered in two batches under the PURL mechanism", — said the minister.

Berlin will also allocate an additional 25 million euros to Ukraine as part of a comprehensive package of assistance from the NATO Trust Fund.

Earlier, Finnish President Alexander Stubb called on Europe to continue providing military and financial support to Ukraine, despite the high-profile corruption scandal.
