OREANDA-NEWS  Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban said Budapest is preparing to abandon Russian gas and possibly oil. This is reported by the Telegram channel of UNIAN.

According to her, the country will fulfill the deadline set by the European Union for abandoning Russian gas.

Orban added that Hungary is looking for alternative sources of oil, as the temporary exemption from US sanctions, allowing purchases from Russian Lukoil and Rosneft, expires on November 21.

Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Budapest ironically commented on the partnership between Hungary and Latvia in the energy sector. The diplomatic mission said that if the Hungarian leadership sees the Baltic country as a strategic partner, then let them receive oil and gas "with the flavor of democracy" from there.
