OREANDA-NEWS Jordan and Egypt will not be able to accept Palestinian refugees from the Gaza Strip, whom Israel wants to forcibly relocate from the enclave, King Abdullah II of Jordan said, his words were quoted by the Jordanian PETRA News Agency.

"I strongly speak not only on behalf of Jordan, but also on behalf of our brothers in Egypt: neither Jordan nor Egypt will be able to accept refugees, this situation has humanitarian aspects that need to be addressed in the Palestinian territories in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank," he said at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz after their meeting in Berlin.

The Jordanian monarch went on a tour of EU countries earlier this week to discuss with them the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Abdullah II stressed that it is impossible to try to impose a situation related to the future of the Palestinians on other countries.According to the monarch, some parties are trying to create a new reality on the ground.

"Everyone understands the seriousness of the situation and how we will work together to reduce the escalation and stop the violence, and we have to think about what will happen next. Violence must stop, and we cannot continue the same cycle of violence every year," the king added.

He stressed the need to find "a political horizon that unites Palestinians and Israelis." According to him, this will allow Arabs and Israelis to work together, "otherwise the cycle of violence will continue to such an extent that we will not be able to tolerate it anymore."
