OREANDA-NEWS The share of defaults on corporate bonds in Russia is 0.1 percent of their total volume in circulation, Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Elvira Nabiullina said at a press conference. This is reported by TASS.
"After the active growth of lending, taking into account the significant expansion of the circle of those who issue bonds, the number of credit events will increase," the head of the Central Bank said in this regard, refuting the existence of any wave of defaults.
Nabiullina also recalled that buyers of corporate bonds with yields significantly higher than those of federal loan bonds (OFZ) should take into account the likelihood of default on them. She noted that the corporate sector as a whole maintains a stable financial position, while only individual companies experience difficulties with debt servicing.
Earlier, Izvestia reported that by the end of 2026, more than 50 issuers could default on bonds on the Russian market, which would be the highest in the last 17 years. At the same time, as can be seen from the current data, not only small companies are facing problems, but also some of the larger ones. So, by the beginning of October, the developer Aeroplane had experienced two technical defaults, and before that, Eurotrans, the operator of a large independent network of Trassa gas stations, had defaulted on all bonds.
