OREANDA-NEWS  South African President Cyril Ramaphosa invited the leaders of 67 African countries and the global South, as well as 20 representatives of organizations, to meetings within the framework of the BRICS summit, at the moment 34 countries have confirmed their participation, said the head of the South African Foreign Ministry Naledi Pandor during a speech that was broadcast on YouTube.

"Thus, the President invited (with the general support of the leaders of the BRICS countries) 67 leaders from Africa and the global South to attend an event on BRICS-Africa contacts and BRICS Plus dialogues. Leaders from all continents and regions of the "global South"... At the moment, confirmations have been received from at least 34 countries," Pandora said.

She noted that the UN Secretary General and representatives of other organizations were also invited to the events.

The BRICS summit, which will be held in Johannesburg on August 22-24, will be attended by the leaders of China, India, Brazil and South Africa, Russia will be represented by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he would participate in the summit via videoconference.
