OREANDA-NEWS  Rostec State Corporation has developed and started supplying the Groza complex to combat FPV drones to the troops, the state corporation told RIA Novosti on Monday.

"Specialists of the Radioelectronic Technologies Concern (KRET) of the Rostec State Corporation have developed and put into mass production a complex for countering unmanned aerial vehicles. The new product was named "Thunderstorm.04.K" and is designed to combat FPV type drones (First Person View - "first person view"). The first batch has already been sent to the troops," Rostec said.

The state corporation added that the development of the Novgorod scientific and production enterprise Kvant (part of KRET) has passed all the necessary checks and tests, during which it confirmed its technical characteristics and high efficiency in the fight against FPV drones.

As Andrey Kondrashov, General Director of NPO Kvant, clarified, in August 2023, the company's staff was tasked with developing a means of countering drones of this type. Already in autumn, the first batch was delivered to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Modern FPV drones pose a great danger to military personnel on the battlefield. They are used for radio engineering and optoelectronic reconnaissance, the diversion of radar and missile systems during an air attack. FPV drones can be equipped with special means for suspending ammunition. Drones use secure communication channels and are resistant to the effects of electronic warfare.
