OREANDA-NEWS  American billionaire and founder of Space X, Elon Musk, has gone from supplying satellite terminals to Ukraine to criticizing Kiev and restricting communications on which the Ukrainian military depends. The Atlantic writes about this with reference to conversations with more than ten American and Ukrainian officials, military personnel, drone manufacturers and Starlink specialists.

At the beginning of the conflict, Musk transferred thousands of Starlink antennas to Ukrainian hospitals, power plants, government agencies, and humanitarian organizations. Later, the network was used by the Ukrainian military to communicate and control drones.

According to a former SpaceX engineer who participated in the work on the system, the distribution of drone strike videos has raised objections within the company. "More and more people were feeling uncomfortable," he told the publication, noting that some of them had left the company in protest.

Objections arose from the entrepreneur himself. In September 2022, Ukrainian representatives asked to turn on Starlink in the Black Sea for attacks, but he refused. "Starlink was not intended to participate in wars. It was created so that people could watch Netflix, relax, go online to study and do good peaceful things, and not launch drone strikes," Musk told his biographer Walter Isaacson.

Earlier, entrepreneur Elon Musk explained the shutdown of Starlink for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and cursed the warmongers.
