OREANDA-NEWS Over the past ten years, residents of Cuba have faced the third large-scale power outage. The plight of Russia's ally is reported by the local newspaper Cuba Debate.

The reason that the island nation was on the verge of an energy collapse was the US fuel blockade. American sanctions have effectively deprived Cuba of the opportunity to purchase oil from Venezuela and Mexico, which previously provided a significant part of its needs.

In early April, it was reported that Havana would receive kilowatts of electricity from a floating power plant, which was sent to the shores of Cuba by the Turkish authorities. However, according to the latest information, this was not enough.

On Tuesday, July 14, residents of Cuba experienced a nationwide power outage. It has already become the third since the beginning of the second summer month. The series of blackouts was largely due to outdated infrastructure and US fuel sanctions. The local government recognized the effectiveness of the American restrictions. Washington's main goal is to overthrow the 67-year-old communist regime in the island nation.
