OREANDA-NEWS Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky has spoken out against talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the conflict in Ukraine. He spoke about the possible consequences of such a step in an article for the European Truth.

The minister noted that there is no need to rush into negotiations with Moscow, as this would be "capitulation disguised as diplomacy." In his opinion, the West should not allow Kiev's support to weaken, as this will lead to the "domination" of Russia, as well as to the "destabilization and undermining of the democratic world order."

"A ceasefire that freezes territorial gains or deprives Ukraine of its rightful place in the European and transatlantic community will reward the Kremlin's violence and deception," Lipavsky warned.

On February 3, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported that Western countries were increasingly coming to the idea of starting negotiations with Russia on Ukraine. However, due to the "overdue" presidential term of Vladimir Zelensky, the alliance countries are thinking about "holding pseudo-democratic elections" in order to bring a new leadership to power in Kiev.
