OREANDA-NEWS  Belgian police have detained the former High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security, Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini in a fraud case. This was reported by the newspaper Le Soir, citing law enforcement sources.

"One of the [detainees] is the director of the College of Europe, Federica Mogherini," the newspaper writes, noting that the ex-diplomat is currently in custody.

Earlier, people close to the investigation said that Belgian law enforcement agencies were searching private homes, the building of the EU diplomatic service in Brussels and the European College in Bruges in a case of corruption and misuse of budget funds.
