OREANDA-NEWS  Russia and Belarus will not be among the more than 200 countries that will receive invitations to the Olympics in Paris on July 26, the IOC press service reported. As noted in the committee, the decision on the performance of Russian athletes at the 2024 Games will be made "in due course" and without reference to the results of qualifying competitions. Russia called this verdict discriminatory and violating the principles of Olympism, but did not rule out that athletes would eventually be allowed to participate in the Games.

While Russia is discussing the possible performance of domestic athletes at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, the International Olympic Committee continues to discuss their admission to the Olympic tournaments of 2024 and 2026, the first of which will be held in Paris, and the second in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. And although a little more than a year remains before the start of the competition in France, there is still no certainty.

On July 13, a large-scale supplement to the article on the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in international championships in general and in the upcoming Summer and Winter Games in particular was published on the official website of the IOC. Initially, this memo appeared at the end of March 2023 - three days after the executive committee of the organization, at which the issue of admission of Russian athletes to the Olympics was considered. Then the president of the committee, Thomas Bach, refused to put an end to it and said that the final verdict would be rendered "in due course."

And if you believe the latest information, this moment will not come on July 26 — the day when the vast majority of countries of the world will receive invitations to the Olympics in Paris. By tradition, this will happen exactly one year before the start of the competition.
