OREANDA-NEWS The global personal computer (PC) market has shown the strongest growth in recent years. This is stated in a study by International Data Corporation (IDC).

Worldwide computer shipments in the third quarter of 2025 increased by 9.4 percent over the year, reaching 75.8 million devices. The main reason for the record shipments was the approaching end date for Windows 10 support — the outdated OS will stop receiving updates on October 14. Because of this, regular and corporate users started buying new PCs that support Windows 11.

Demand for new computers is likely to continue in 2026. The largest growth was recorded in the EMEA region, which unites Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Supplies increased by 14 percent here. In the United States, where they are still experiencing the impact of high duties on the cost of imported products, the increase was only 1 percent.

The Chinese Lenovo corporation remained the leader of the PC market, which received a share of 25.5 percent. The American HP and Dell are lower — 19.8 and 13.3 percent, respectively. The share of Apple and Asus was 9 and 7.8 percent, respectively.

In early October, Apple published an advertisement mocking personal computers and Windows. The company recalled the global Windows crash that occurred in July 2024.
