OREANDA-NEWS The launch of the Soyuz MS-29 manned spacecraft with Roscosmos cosmonauts and a NASA astronaut to the International Space Station (ISS) is expected on Tuesday from the Baikonur cosmodrome.
The launch of the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle, which will launch the Soyuz MS-29 manned transport spacecraft with a new ISS crew, is scheduled for 17:48 Moscow time from the 31st site of the Baikonur cosmodrome.
The flight of the manned spacecraft will follow an ultrafast two-turn approach pattern and will take approximately 3 hours and 8 minutes. The Soyuz MS-29 will dock with the Berth module of the Russian segment of the ISS at 20:56 Moscow time.
The crew of the spacecraft includes Roscosmos cosmonauts Peter Dubrov, Anna Kikina and NASA astronaut Anil Menon, who will travel to the ISS under a cross-flight agreement between Russia and the United States.
In July 2022, as part of the ISS program, Roscosmos and NASA signed an agreement on cross-flights of Russian cosmonauts on American reusable SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft and American astronauts on Russian Soyuz MS manned spacecraft.
According to the state corporation, the ship will stay in orbit for 261 days.
During the expedition, it is planned to make two spacewalks under the Russian program.
The day before, Roscosmos announced that NASA chief Jared Isaacman would be present at the launch of the spacecraft. He is also expected to meet with Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Bakanov at Baikonur.
"Jared Isaakman's visit was the first in eight years by the head of NASA to the Baikonur cosmodrome," the state corporation's press service reported.
