OREANDA-NEWS. Russian tech financial start-up Platius - a platform for mobile payments and digital marketing - announces that it has begun working in the retail segment. In connection with this the company is changing its name to Plazius.

Previously the main clients of the Plazius platform were restaurants, cafes and other catering enterprises. Now every shop, from grocery stores to branches of major chains can connect to Plazius and use the capabilities provided by the platform to develop business and increase revenue.

Plazius combines a mobile payment system and digital marketing platform for business. The platform helps restaurants and shops to attract new consumers and retain existing ones thanks to an analysis of audiences (demographic and behavioural characteristics, buyer preferences) and engagement in the purchasing process. The built-in gaming mechanics of Plazius increase the frequency that consumers use stores by 33-65%: they bring friends and make online purchases. The average purchase size increases by 25%.

"Sberbank supports a lot of innovation projects, helps finance them and strives to continuously introduce new financial technology. Plazius is an excellent example of technology helping to bring the retail business, restaurants and consumers together in a single marketplace. Both consumers and market participants benefit from this sort of synergy. Sberbank's goal is to help the Plazius team to create a mobile payment platform and digital marketing on a national scale," commented Mikhail Erenburg, Senior Vice President and Head of Digital Business Development at Sberbank.

"Plazius is similar to the previous name, but has a new meaning: 'Plaza' means 'market, square' - Plazius focuses on not only mobile payments, but also on creating a national marketplace for retail and catering companies," commented David Yang, founder of Plazius.

Plazius' first partner from the retail sector is the Global Gourmet chain of grocery stores. Global Gourmet became a pioneer of digital marketing in the retail market. Customers of the grocery store can now do a number of new things: purchases can be paid using the mobile application by simply showing a special code displayed on-screen to the shop assistant. Using an analysis of customer preferences, Globus Gourmet will create personal offers that will be delivered directly to the Plazius application. Customers will be able to take advantage of these offers wherever they are," commented Andrey Yakovlev, CEO of Globus Gourmet.

"Plazius is a marketplace where businesses and consumers can find each other thanks to technology. Plazius is used by more than 1,500 restaurants and stores and more than 4.5 million consumers. We work with big data, predictive analysis and cluster analysis in order for the platform to be useful to all parties," commented Dmitry Zlokazov, Executive Director of Plazius.

Since cooperation began with Sberbank, the user base of Plazius has doubled and currently amounts to more than 4.5 mln people. Every month around 5 million transactions are made via the Plazius application (160,000 purchases per day). Restaurants that use Plazius have experienced an average increase of revenue of 5-12% within the first six months of using the system thanks to effective service and retention of customers.

Plazius is mobile payment system and digital marketing platform for retail and catering enterprises. More than 1,500 restaurants and stores in Russia use this innovative technology as their main loyalty programme and mobile payment system. Sberbank holds a controlling stake in the start-up.
