OREANDA-NEWS  According to the draft federal budget for 2026-2028, almost five billion rubles are planned to be allocated over the next three years to compensate citizens for Soviet-era deposits. This is reported by TASS with reference to the document.

The amount of payments included in the budget is expected to amount to about 1.662 billion rubles in 2026, about 1.6 billion in 2027, and about 1.56 billion in 2028. The money will be used to repay the state internal debt of the Russian Federation, the draft says.

According to the previously established indicators, the authorities allocated 1.458 billion rubles for this purpose in 2025, and in the next two years it was planned to pay 1.285 and 1.246 billion rubles, respectively. Thus, it was decided to increase the compensation limit by about a quarter in 2026-2027.

In 2025, Russian citizens born in 1945 and older, as well as their heirs belonging to this category, will be compensated three times the amount of the remaining deposits as of June 20, 1991. "The amount of three—fold compensation depends on the retention period of deposits (contributions) and is reduced by the amount of previously received preliminary compensation (compensation) and additional compensation for deposits (contributions)," the law noted. Russians born from 1946 to 1991 will be compensated for the remaining deposits on the same date in double the amount and subject to the same reservations listed above.
