EU countries have approved the UK's participation in a 90 billion euro loan to help Ukraine

OREANDA-NEWS The EU Council announced that the EU countries have approved the UK's participation in providing assistance to Ukraine as part of a 90 billion euro loan.
"The EU's solidarity with Ukraine is a key priority of the Irish presidency. Today's approval reflects the common commitment of the EU and the UK to support Ukraine (...). Britain's participation in the loan to support Ukraine will also allow Kiev to purchase products from British defense manufacturers (...)," said Helen McEntee, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland, chairing the Council of the European Union.
The Council recalled that the EU framework agreement worth 90 billion euros is designed to help Ukraine meet its "most urgent needs in 2026 and 2027." The loan provides Ukraine with 60 billion euros for investments in military-industrial facilities, including the purchase of defense products; 30 billion euros are provided as direct economic and budgetary support.
