OREANDA-NEWS The current drop in prices for household appliances in Russian stores is due, among other things, to limited demand in the domestic market. This was stated by financial analyst Mikhail Belyaev, quoted by Ridus.

A significant part of household appliances in Russia are bought on credit. This is due to the regular increase in retail prices. The tight monetary policy of the Central Bank had a significant impact on the cost of loans. As a result, interest rates on consumer loans in the country are currently at a very high level, Belyaev explained.

This circumstance, in turn, significantly cools domestic demand, the expert noted. "Now, I'm sorry, there are few idiots who are ready to take out loans at high interest rates," Belyaev said.

Among other important reasons for the decline in retail prices for household appliances, he attributed the "obsolescence" of the assortment presented on the shelves and the cunning marketing strategy of retailers. "When a product has just appeared on the market, an inflated price is set for it <...> And then the cost of the model is sharply reduced, and then everyone runs to the stores for it," the analyst explained. Such a strategy, he noted, works especially well against the background of rumors about difficulties with supplies to Russia due to Western sanctions.

Earlier, the Izvestia newspaper, citing data from interviewed experts, reported a noticeable decrease in retail prices for household appliances. Since the beginning of spring 2025, the cost of this type of household products in Russia has fallen by an average of 10-20 percent. The cost of small household appliances in April-May decreased by 16 percent, prices for stoves and ovens — by 10 percent, for microwave ovens — by 7 percent, and for refrigerators — by 11 percent. Commercial Director of Refrigerator.<url>" Alexey Pogudalov attributed such dynamics, among other things, to the strengthening of the ruble against the dollar.
