OREANDA-NEWS  The majority of Russian families (52 percent) did not have savings by the end of 2023, follows from the results of a survey conducted by the ROMIR research holding. The researchers obtained such results by interviewing more than 4.3 thousand adult citizens according to an all-Russian representative sample.

Another 40 percent of respondents stated that they kept their "stash" exclusively in rubles. It is noted that both indicators have fluctuated slightly in the last two years — in the range of 50-53 and 39-42 percent, respectively. This suggests that Russians have adapted to the economic situation in the country, and the issue of their savings has stabilized, the materials say.

In another seven percent of households, savings consist of both Russian and foreign currency, and only one percent stores them exclusively in dollars or euros.

Earlier, the Central Bank said that by the end of 2023, the yuan was ahead of the dollar and became the most popular foreign savings currency among Russian citizens and business representatives. The equivalent of these savings, according to the regulator, amounted to 68.7 and 64.7 billion dollars, respectively.
