OREANDA-NEWS Since March 2025, almost 17 million residents of Russia have established a self-ban on issuing loans. This was stated by the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, during the government hour in the Federation Council.

According to her, this service proved to be in high demand, as it allows Russians to insure themselves well. In addition, the head of the regulator recalled that since the beginning of autumn, such an automatic mechanism as the cooling period before issuing large loans has been in operation. As Nabiullina noted, it is necessary to evaluate how this tool works.

At the beginning of last week, it was reported that in September 2025, Russian borrowers used the self-locking service for loans more than 57 thousand times in multifunctional centers (MFCs). In addition, 104.6 thousand times this tool was used through the portal "Gosuslugi".
