OREANDA-NEWS  By the end of 2023, the price increase in Russia will be 5-6 percent. Such figures were called by the deputy head of the Ministry of Economic Development (MAYOR) of the country Ilya Torosov in an interview with Izvestia.

"According to estimates, already in the second quarter of this year, inflation may fall below the target level of 4 percent. We expect that the price growth will be within the forecast for the year — 5-6 percent," he said. Last year, the price increase reached 11.9 percent, Torosov recalled.

The indicator for 2023 is projected taking into account the effect of the high base of 2022 and the recession in the economy, he noted. At the same time, the expected level is average and can vary significantly in different sectors. Mikhail Zeltser, an expert on the stock market of BCS World of Investments, previously explained that the slowdown in inflation was provoked by a purely technical factor — this spring the panic that began immediately after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine is unlikely to repeat.
