OREANDA-NEWS  Russia's interest in economic cooperation with Tanzania, which was discussed during the visit of the President of the African country, is largely related to its geographical location and access to the Indian Ocean, and bilateral cooperation is based on a mutually beneficial basis. The port of Dar es Salaam is considered as a key transport hub in East Africa, where goods transit to the countries of the region, which has a market of more than 300 million people, explained Maya Nikolskaya, head of the MGIMO African Studies Program. She called digitalization another promising area of cooperation, including projects in the field of public administration and cybersecurity, in which Russia is "more than competitive" in terms of technology and customization options for solutions offered by partners.

On the eve of June 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with his counterpart from Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, that the two countries have every opportunity to increase mutual trade. He stressed that Russia was the first country that his interlocutor visited on a state visit after taking office.
