OREANDA-NEWS  The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia has announced the start of accepting and reviewing applications from Russian legal entities as part of the implementation of the agreement on the resumption of activities of the V.G.

Ardzinba Sukhum International Airport in Abkhazia, the press service of the department reports.

Applications are accepted until September 15, 2023. They will be considered by the joint Russian-Abkhaz commission.
The agreement between the governments of Russia and Abkhazia was signed in St. Petersburg during the SPIEF on June 16, 2023.

Sukhum Airport was built in the 60s of the last century. Currently, as reported on the website of the air harbor, it is being reconstructed and does not accept passenger planes. The nearest Russian airport to Abkhazia is Sochi. Most tourists and travelers arrive there and then cross the Russian-Abkhazian border by bus, minibus, taxi or with the help of an individual transfer. Sukhum International Airport remains the only civilian airport in Abkhazia.
