OREANDA-NEWS  In the first two months of 2023, Russians' spending on pet products decreased by 19-26 percent compared to the same period in 2022. At the same time, the number of purchases decreased and the average receipt decreased. This is reported by Kommersant with reference to data from various payment services.

For example, according to CloudPayments, in January-February, the turnover of goods in this category on online platforms fell by 26 percent, and the number of transactions decreased by 10 percent, and the average receipt — by 15.8 percent (5.8 thousand rubles). A less serious decline is noted in Tinkoff Data. According to the service, Russians' spending in online stores decreased by 19 percent, while the number of purchases decreased by 15 percent.

NielsenIQ notes that over the same period, Russians began to spend less money on dog food (minus 7.9 percent) and treats for dogs and cats (minus 11.7 percent). On the contrary, sales of cat food in 2023 increased, adding 1.3 percent year-on-year. Analysts of the service emphasize that all online sales of pet products in Russia account for only nine percent of the market.
