OREANDA-NEWS  The basic set of socially significant "first price" products in large retail chains in May fell by an average of 11.4% year-on-year, prices decreased for 18 of the 25 products in the set, the chairman of the Association of Omnichannel Retail Companies (ACORT) told RIA Novosti Stanislav Bogdanov.

"As of mid-May 2026, compared to the same period last year, prices decreased for 18 of the 25 socially significant "first price" products in large retail chains. The basic set of these products has fallen in price by an average of 11.4% over the year," he said.

The top 5 products that have fallen in price in annual terms include borscht vegetables and cereals. The minimum cost of potatoes in retail chains decreased by 48.4%, to 39 rubles per kilogram. Beetroot fell in price by 47%, to 41 rubles per kilogram, onions - by 42%, to 38 rubles, a kilogram of white cabbage - by 41%, to 40 rubles. The prices of cereals have also noticeably decreased: rice has become cheaper by a third, to 46 rubles per kilogram.
