OREANDA-NEWS  The U.S. Department of Commerce intends to impose countervailing duties on imports of raw palladium from Russia. The relevant notice is posted on the agency's website.

Washington points out that Russian producers of this precious metal receive subsidies subject to US measures. As a result, palladium imported into the country will be subject to a duty of 109.1 percent.

In 2024, the United States imported 27.6 tons of palladium from Russia. The amount of contracts exceeded $ 877 million.

Palladium is one of the rarest elements in the earth's crust. The noble metal of the platinum group is used in the production of catalysts for automobiles, in the electronic and chemical industries.
