OREANDA-NEWS  In the period from July to September, the volume of cash in circulation increased by 659 billion rubles, which is almost five times more than the figure recorded a year earlier in the same period. Izvestia writes about this with reference to the data of the Bank of Russia.

The amount of cash in the hands of Russians in the third quarter increased faster only in 2022, when the volume of growth exceeded 1.1 trillion rubles.

As the analysts of the Central Bank explained, the current figures are related to mobile Internet outages, which often does not allow for cashless payments. Experts from banking organizations confirm that this time we are talking about activating cash payments, and not about storing funds "under the pillow."

Olga Belenkaya, Head of the Macroeconomic Analysis Department at Finam, noted that the very threat of the lack of mobile Internet in many regions forces citizens to have cash with them.
