OREANDA-NEWS. In the coming field season, specialists from JSC Dalgeofizika (Khabarovsk, a subsidiary of Rosgeologia State Holding Company) will complete the final set of geophysical surveys at the north-western end of the Kherpuchi ore/alluvial cluster in the area named after Polina Osipenko, Khabarovsk Region. The work has been in progress since 2015 and is being conducted under a three-year state contract.

The specialists of the Khabarovsk affiliate will commence the final field season with mine openings in perspective anomalies, which were outlined based on the data acquired by the company in the course of previous geological surveys in two areas: Tamaguin and Nevaglin (totaling 6 km2). The detailed survey of the above area is expected to reveal commercial gold deposits.

All in all, within the Kherpuchi ore/alluvial cluster the geologists from Khabarovsk will study the area of 150 km2. Gold mineralization of that area was first established in the 19th century. In 1870, gold prospectors, the Butins and the Tetyukovs brothers, dispatched first exploration groups to the Lower Amur river, which discovered large deposits of alluvial gold along rivers Kherpuchi and Talmak. A year later, over 40 kg of gold was produced at the Amgun river placer and over several years the production grew to 200 kg.

The main objectives of the current geological studies is to explore and outline the most prospective ore clusters, and to estimate their predicted gold and associated mineral resources.

On completion of the three-year project (2015-2017) the specialists of JSC Dalgeofizika will map gold-bearing areas at 1:25000 scale and geochemical anomalies at 1:25000 and 1:10000 scales; they will also assess P2 predicted ore resources. By the end of 2017 the final report including the recommendations for further geological exploration will be submitted to the client, the Department of Mineral Resources Management for the Far-East Federal District.
