OREANDA-NEWS  The cooperation plan between the Ministries of Defense of Russia and Uzbekistan for 2025 and the program of strategic partnership between the two countries in the military field for 2026-2030 will be signed on Wednesday in Tashkent, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said.

"In addition to discussing topical issues of cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres, as well as the current situation in the region, we have prepared a number of important documents for signing. This is the plan of cooperation between our departments for 2025 and the program of strategic partnership between Russia and Uzbekistan in the military field for 2026-2030," Belousov said during talks with Uzbek Defense Minister Shukhrat Halmukhamedov.

The Russian Defense Minister stressed that "Russia and Uzbekistan are strategic partners and long-time friends." According to him, cooperation between Moscow and Tashkent "has reached a high level of mutual understanding and continues to expand."

"This is especially important in the current international situation. The heads of Russia and Uzbekistan pay great attention to the development of relations between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries. Our joint work has a significant impact on ensuring security in the Central Asian region, so we attach great importance to today's meeting," Belousov stated.

Starting the negotiations, he noted that he was glad to meet and personally get to know his colleague, thanking him for the invitation to visit Tashkent and the warm welcome. "Once again, I would like to congratulate you on your appointment to the post of Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan and wish you success in this responsible post," Belousov said.

He said that the Russian delegation that arrived in Tashkent included the heads of organizations that deal with military and military-technical cooperation.

The Russian Defense Minister expressed confidence that today's meeting would launch a new stage of cooperation between the two countries in the defense sector, and suggested "moving on to discussing topical issues on the agenda."
