OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian government has supported the idea of State Duma deputies to ban foreign analytical companies from studying Russian commodity markets. Izvestia writes about this with reference to its own sources.

We are talking about data such as changes in product prices, the cost and composition of the food basket of the population and the dynamics of spending on food. Such information, the authors of the bill believe, is of interest to foreign intelligence agencies. In addition, analysts can aggregate personal data of Russians of particular interest.

The draft law, introduced at the end of July this year, proposes to preserve the opportunity to study commodity markets only for companies that are 80 percent owned by Russian structures and are themselves based inside the country. It is separately indicated that analysts should use only Russian equipment for their work.

The government recommended amending the document, indicating that the activities of analysts do not relate to trade, which means that it cannot be regulated by the law on trade. Officials also proposed to change the system of control over the fulfillment of requirements. The proposal to give it to the government commission contradicts the current legislation, since the commission does not have such powers.
