OREANDA-NEWS  By the end of June 2023, the cost of a kilogram of chilled and frozen chicken meat increased by 6.8 percent and amounted to a record 193.48 rubles. This is evidenced by the data of the Unified Interdepartmental Information and Statistical System (EMISS).

The previous maximum was set in April, when the indicator was at the level of 190.85 rubles. At the same time, Forbes, citing analysts from Emeat, reported an even greater increase in retail prices for these products — up to 270 rubles per kilogram. At the same time, the cost range can be from 200 to 350 rubles. The company noted that retail prices for chicken on the Russian market have continued to rise since June 2022. The dynamics is largely due to the "chaos" of the first half of last year, when, against the background of international sanctions, chicken meat producers had an acute problem with the supply of feed, equipment, veterinary medicines from foreign suppliers.

The consulting company Agrifood Strategies explained the rise in the price of chicken meat by a general increase in the cost of production. This is caused by an increase in prices for components of feed additives, including soy meal (a high—protein type of meal that is obtained during the production of soybean seed oil - approx. "Tapes.ru"), as well as an increase in the cost of equipment.

A possible increase in prices for chicken meat on the Russian market was warned in July 2022. Then the analysts of the National Rating Agency linked the risks of the rise in price of these products with the need to cover the growing production costs, as well as the incomplete replacement of imported hatching eggs.
