OREANDA-NEWS  The Government of Tuva has discussed with companies from Mongolia and China the possibility of building a section of the Kuragino—Kyzyl railway with the possibility of extending the branch line to the Mongolian border. Vladimir Donskikh, the special representative of the head of the republic, told about this on the sidelines of the Transport Week, Kommersant reports.

In the case of Chinese partners, we are talking about the creation of not only transport, but also energy infrastructure in exchange for the right to develop minerals on the territory of the republic.

According to Donskikh, transactions of this type are already being used in the construction of facilities in Mongolia. For example, China Railways has reached an agreement with the Mongolian Genghis Khan Group on the construction of a railway with an approach to the Russian-Mongolian checkpoint Tsagan-Tolgoi in Tuva —Arts-Suur in Mongolia.

The Kuragino—Kyzyl road was conceived almost 20 years ago. In 2008, the construction contract was signed with former Senator Sergey Pugachev. It was assumed that the branch line would connect the Elegestskoye deposit with reserves of 855 million tons of coking (metallurgical) coal to the general railway network.
