OREANDA-NEWS The sanctions imposed on Russia will not prevent it from developing at the same speed as, for example, France is developing. About this during a speech at the marathon "Knowledge. The first," said the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reports.

He recalled that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts Russia's GDP growth in 2023 by 0.7 percent, and France has exactly the same indicator. "That is, Russia, which carries an unprecedented burden of sanctions on its shoulders, will develop at the same pace as France," the Kremlin spokesman stressed.

At the same time, for Germany, he pointed out, the IMF predicts a fall of 0.1 percent by the end of 2023. Peskov invited his listeners to be proud that the Russian economy is growing faster than the German one.

Earlier in the same speech, the press secretary of the president called it a lie that the sanctions against Russia are working, and the Russian economy is buckling.

Germany's GDP per capita in nominal terms, according to IMF estimates, in 2023 amounted to 51.3 thousand dollars, France's GDP — 44.4 thousand dollars. The fund's experts estimate the Russian GDP per capita at $14.4 thousand. The economies of developing countries tend to grow noticeably faster than those of developed countries due to a weak base. So, for China, whose GDP per capita is comparable to Russia's, the IMF expects growth of 5.2 percent this year.
