OREANDA-NEWS. Almost all those detained in Belarus on cases of administrative offenses for participation in unauthorized mass protest actions were released.

This was announced on August 17 by the press service of the republic’s Prosecutor General’s Office. “The General Prosecutor’s Office, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has carried out work to release citizens detained in the course of proceedings in cases of administrative offenses for participating in unauthorized mass events. Almost all of these persons have now been released,” the statement of the agency reads.

Last week, Belarusian Interior Minister Yury Karayeu said he was taking responsibility for injuring citizens during the protests and apologized.

On August 16, Maria Kolesnikova, a colleague of ex-presidential candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, called on the state authorities to release all people detained at opposition rallies.
