OREANDA-NEWS  Scientists at the NMHC named after ak. E.N. Meshalkin have created a unique container in which donor hearts can be stored for up to 12 hours. Experts have presented a new method not only for storing, but also for removing the heart-lung organocomplex.

According to the newspaper "Gazeta.ru", an autonomous cuvette ensures the continuation of the electrical activity of the heart and artificial ventilation of the lungs, as well as supports hemostasis and the functional status of the heart for up to 12 hours. Now the researchers intend to find a method that will provide the necessary pacing, conditioning and warming of the heart fluids inside the transport container.

The work on the creation of the container was carried out with the participation of colleagues from the Institute of Cytology and Genetics, the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics named after S. A. Khristianovich and the Institute of High-Current Electronics in Tomsk.
