OREANDA-NEWS Russian enterprises have set a new anti-record in 2022. In total, 9 billion tons of waste were produced, which exceeds not only the indicator of 2021, but also the values for the entire period of available statistics since 2002. Such data are provided by analysts of the audit and consulting network FinExpertiza in their research.

The Kemerovo Region has become the leader in terms of industrial waste among the regions of Russia. During the year, Kemerovo enterprises produced 4.04 billion tons of waste. The second place is occupied by Yakutia with 719.8 million tons. Then there are the Krasnoyarsk Territory (589.1 million tons) and Khakassia (412.6 million tons). The largest increase in comparison with last year, surprisingly, was shown by Kamchatka — in 2021, the amount of garbage in the region, on the contrary, decreased. This year, the volume of waste there has increased by 12.2 times.

At the end of the rating of the most "dirty" regions of the country are agricultural Ingushetia — 7.5 thousand tons, Kalmykia — 17 thousand tons and Kabardino-Balkaria — 56.3 thousand tons. The exception to the rule is the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, which, with the development of the oil industry, leaves relatively little waste — 152.4 thousand tons.

Coal mining is recognized as the most "garbage" industry — in 2022 it accounted for 63 percent of all waste, or 5.7 billion tons. It is followed by the extraction of metal ores and other minerals.

The company's analysts emphasize that the volume of spending in 2022 increased despite the economic downturn in the country. The growth of garbage is recorded in Russia every year. The exceptions were the crisis of 2009 and the pandemic of 2020, when the amount of waste due to production cuts decreased by 10.3 percent.

Earlier, experts analyzed the specifics of the production of solid municipal garbage by region. The championship belongs to Moscow. The second region in the list in terms of garbage volume is the Krasnodar Territory, St. Petersburg closed the top three.
