OREANDA-NEWS  The Presidents of Russia and Venezuela, Vladimir Putin and Nicolas Maduro, had a telephone conversation. They discussed the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as the recent attempt to attack the Kremlin with a drone. Mr Maduro condemned the strike. According to the Kremlin, the conversation took place on the initiative of the Venezuelan side.

"Nicolas Maduro strongly condemned the Kiev regime's attempt to strike the Kremlin with unmanned aerial vehicles, expressing on behalf of the Venezuelan people feelings of solidarity and support for Russia," the Kremlin's press service reported. The sides also discussed the implementation of joint projects in the trade, economic, energy and humanitarian fields.

The press service of the President of Russia yesterday, May 3, reported that last night Ukrainian drones tried to attack the Kremlin residence of Vladimir Putin, but were shot down. Mr. Putin was not in the Kremlin at the time of the incident. Ukraine has denied accusations of involvement in the attack.

On the night of today, May 4, a statement issued by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry said that Nicolas Maduro expresses "full condemnation of the desperate attempt" on Vladimir Putin. He also noted the actions of the Russian services that neutralized the UAVs in a timely manner.

On April 19, Nicolas Maduro held a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at his residence in Caracas. During the talks, Mr. Lavrov conveyed to the President of Venezuela an invitation from Vladimir Putin to visit Russia.
