OREANDA-NEWS The eruption of the largest active volcano in Eurasia, Klyuchevskaya Sopka, has begun in Kamchatka. This is reported by the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Group (KVERT).

During the eruption, the giant threw out a column of ash seven kilometers above sea level. The resulting ash plume stretched for 450 kilometers in a south and south-easterly direction, no ash fallout was recorded in the nearest settlements. At night, a glow was observed above the peak, lava gushed in the crater, and pyroclastic rocks collapsed from the sides of the Apakhonchichi trench on the eastern slope. Against the background of the eruption, the aviation danger code in the area of the peak was raised to orange.

Klyuchevskaya volcano reaches a height of 4.85 thousand meters and is considered one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

On July 24, the Shiveluch volcano spewed out a column of ash. The ash salvo reached a height of 12 kilometers. Following this, the ash covered the neighboring village of Klyuchi. Shiveluch blew out two new ash columns nine and seven and a half kilometers high on the 29th, after which the Keys were again covered with ash, as well as the village of Kozyrevsk in the Ust-Kamchatsky district. In addition, a small ashfall was observed in the village of Atlasovo, Milkovsky municipal district.
