OREANDA-NEWS The State Duma deputies appreciated in the comments the proposal to introduce a working week of 36 hours for Russians instead of forty. They called it premature or inappropriate. Svetlana Bessarab (EP), a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, previously stated the need for such a reduction in working time.

Her colleague in the faction Sergey Kolunov recalled that the topic of reducing the working week has been discussed for a long time - it was raised both at the level of the government of the Russian Federation and at the level of the Russian parliament.

"I will say this, technological progress has really significantly accelerated work in all areas - in the construction economy, in industry," he said. "But it's too early to talk about shortening the working week, especially for all workers."

According to him, it is especially premature now, when the country is conducting a special military operation. "Now, on the contrary, it is necessary to work more, to do everything to support the domestic industry and economy in the face of unprecedented sanctions. We must do everything to Win, and there is no question of indulgences," the parliamentarian stressed.

He also drew attention to the fact that Russia has its own culture, its own history and traditions. "And in such matters, we should focus on our own experience and feelings, and not on the experience of unfriendly European countries," he said (note that Bessarab, justifying the proposal, referred to the European experience, - approx. "RG").

LDPR representative Vladimir Sipyagin also believes that "one hundred percent of the question is not this time." According to him, it will be possible to talk about reducing working hours in the future, "but not now when the economy becomes profitable." Such conversations, according to him, can be conducted when it is really possible to perform, taking into account high labor productivity in four days, the amount of work that now takes five days.

State Duma Deputy Alexey Zhuravlev (the Rodina Party) considered this issue in the context of the SVO. He stressed that "the one who cares about the result is already working around the clock, including on the front line, like our fighters who are now defending the interests of the country there."

He called this discussion inappropriate in the current conditions. "If the plant has orders, it can produce them in three shifts, and if not, you can gather employees once a week," he gave an example. The deputy summarized that everything here depends solely on the attitude of the person to work.

Alexander Tolmachev (United Russia faction) called it unimportant how many days to work. "It's important with what quality," he said.

"For example, deputies do not have days off or vacations as such in the usual sense, we are always at work," the deputy stressed.

He added that a four-day period would not be suitable for continuous cycle enterprises and the defense complex. "Let commercial structures do what is best for their business, while not forgetting about the rights of their employees and customers," Tolmachev believes.
