Water pollution has become more frequent in Russia

OREANDA-NEWS During the year, the number of cases of water pollution in Russia increased by 12 percent. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the data of the Greenium platform.
Pollution most often occurs in July, August and March. In total, 382 objects were subjected to extremely high pollution, and 1,090 were highly polluted. The Tobol River section in the Sverdlovsk Region was most often polluted — it accounted for 481 cases, followed by the Oka in the Moscow Region (164 cases), the Don in the Rostov Region (102 cases), the Vyazma in the Smolensk Region (94 cases) and the Yenisei in the Krasnoyarsk Territory (73 cases). The Murmansk region (120 cases) and Kaliningrad region (102 cases) became the leaders in the number of pollutants.
Most often, water is polluted with manganese ions and easily oxidized organic substances, as well as nitrite nitrogen and zinc ions.
In December 2024, the tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239, carrying a total of 9 thousand tons of fuel oil, crashed in the Kerch Strait. As a result, oil products entered the Black Sea and were washed up on the beaches of Krasnodar Krai and Crimea.
