OREANDA-NEWS. Prestigious Oscar Award for the Best Picture was received by the South Korean film Parasite, a work not of American production and not in English language, for the first time in the history. It won also the Best Original Screenplay (Bong Joon-ho and Han Jin-won) and the Best Director (Bong Joon-ho) nominations.

The movie Joker, which was considered to be the favorite of this ceremony (it was presented in 11 nominations), but did not justify hopes. The statuette was given only to Joaquin Phoenix, who played the main character, and to Hildur Guðnadottir (Best Original Score).

Renee Zellweger was recognized as the best actress for her work in the film Judy.

One more unexpected result is receiving Oscar by Brad Pitt (Best Supporting Actor in the picture Once upon a Time in… Hollywood). This is the first Oscar award in his career.
