OREANDA-NEWS. The Coordination Council of United Metallurgical Company and Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works have held a meeting at Vyksa Steel Works.

According to the press service of the company, the Council summed up the results of the companies' joint operations for the 8 months of 2006 and addressed some issues related to further deliveries and quality enhancement. MISW representatives said that their company was prepared to increase its deliveries against the orders placed by OMK. MISW will also take a set of additional measures to enhance the quality of its steel.

The meeting also discussed the prospects of production of new steels. Specifically, a joint program was developed for new high quality steels (20F, 05G1B, 13 KhFA, and 20-KSKh) to be produced by MISW for the VSW pipe production. It is expected that trial batches of rolled products will be delivered to VSW for tests in 4Q2006.

At present, MISW supplies the enterprises of the OMK Pipe-Rolling Division with rolled products for the production of small-, medium-, and large-diameter pipes. During the 8 months of 2006, MISW delivered 187 thousand tonnes of sheet steel, as compared with 183 thousand tonnes supplied in 2005. MISW accounts for more than 16% of total rolled product supplies for OMK.
