OREANDA-NEWS. According to the preliminary data, in 2006, import of iron ore raw material by Ukraine reduced by 14,8% to 2 million 14,5 thousand tons as compared to 2005.

According to the Interfax-Ukraine, the association of mining enterprises of Ukraine “Ukrrudprom” (Dnepropetrovsk region) noted that import of iron ore concentrate from the Russian Federation in the last year has decreased by 11,4 % to 1 million 178,9 thousand tons, sintering ore - by 6,2 % to 729 thousand tons, pellets - by 55,1 % to 106,6 thousand tons.

At the same time, Ukraine did not import agglomerate in 2006, whereas in 2005 this parameter made 19,4 thousand tons.

In December 2006, Ukraine imported 182,6 thousand tons of iron ore raw material, including 70 thousand tons of concentrate, 80,1 thousand tons of sintering ore and 32,5 thousand tons of pellets.

Import of iron ore raw material in 2006 was reduced by all metallurgical enterprises of the country, except for Mariupol Metal Works after Ilyich, which has increased import of iron ore raw material by 27 % - up to 1,531 million tons in comparison with 2005, including import of concentrate at the rate of 1 million 178,9 thousand tons, 272,1 thousand tons of sintering ore and 80,2 thousand tons of pellets.
