OREANDA-NEWS. The Bryansk Engineering Plant (BMZ) delivered the DB62 marine diesel (S50MC by MAN B&W classifier) to Vinashin, the Vietnamese company on January 31.

According to the press service of Transmashholding, the DB62 was the fist of the set of five diesels to be delivered by the BMZ to the Vietnamese party in 2007. Another two items were delivered to the customer in the second half of 2006. The diesel tests attended by representatives of the customer were a success. The diesel rated the objective power, showed the firm fuel consumption and met all the necessary requirements. The diesel disassembling performed to examine the engine joints upon the tests revealed no aberrations. The DB62 is to be mothballed and shipped.

The BMZ diesels manufactured under the contract with Vinashin have a number of features. In line with the customer demands they are fitted with assemblies manufactured by Lingso Marine, the Danish firm having long-term relations with the Vinashin. The assemblies include the electronic regulator of the engine control system, and emergency shutdown system monitoring the key operation parameters.

The DB62 is a low-speed, two-stroke, reversible, cross-head, turbo-charged engine with direct drive to fixed and adjustable pitch screw-propeller.

Diesel power – 9,480 kW, engine speed - 127 rpm.

The engine is designed to become the transport fleet vessels’ main propulsion unit.
