Ferrari pops the top on the LaFerrari
OREANDA-NEWS. July 06, 2016. How could Ferrari possibly make the LaFerrari any better? For some people, the answer is to rip the top off of it, which is exactly what the Italian supercar maker has done.
The new limited-edition open-top LaFerrari will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October. Ferrari was nice enough to release a few teaser photos today, but the name and more in-depth technical details of special series vehicle won't be revealed until Paris.
We do know that the car will be available with a carbon-fiber hardtop and removable soft top. Ferrari says it's also modified the chassis and aerodynamics to match the torsional rigidity and drag coefficient of the coupe with the top off.
The topless LaFerrari keeps the original model's hybrid drivetrain, with a 6.3-liter V-12 mated to a hybrid power unit to deliver 950 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. All that power goes to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch sequential manual transmission.
Ferrari will reveal production numbers for the open-top LaFerrari in Paris, but sadly they are already sold-out following a special client preview.
