OREANDA-NEWS. March 28, 2007 the unit was automatically stopped on March 25 because of short circuit in the open distribution system caused by wire break, reported the press-centre of  Rosenergoatom. The stoppage posed no threat to the plant or the environment. The incident was “0” on the INES scale. The trouble has been removed. The 1st, 3rd, and 4th units are operating at a total capacity of 2,500 MW according to the schedule. The 2nd unit has been under repair since Nov 11 2006. The radiation background at the plant and in the nearby area is within norm. The open distribution system is a substation transmitting electricity from an NPP to the united energy system of the country. The open distribution system of Kursk NPP is situated 300 m away from the site.
